Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) on March 5 held the third “Czechoslovakia Day”, marking the 76th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Czechoslovakia (February 2, 1950 – 2026).
The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam, Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Ho Chi Minh City Ngo Hong Chuyen, HUFO Chairwoman Ha Thanh, Mayor of Sala town in Slovakia’s Nitra region Jozef Belicky, and members of the Czech and Slovak communities living and working in the city.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vietnam–Slovakia Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City Bui Quang Hai said the programme helped recall the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic and Slovakia, while strengthening people-to-people exchanges and cultural ties.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam noted that the event took place as Vietnam and the Czech Republic begin implementing their Strategic Partnership established in 2025, contributing to enhanced cooperation and mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The programme, themed “Vietnam–Czech–Slovakia Friendship Journey,” featured Eastern European folk dances and musical performances of popular songs from the 1970s to the 1990s by members of local friendship associations./.
