Da Nang (VNA) – The central city of Da Nang on May 30 organised the Danang Venture and Angel Summit 2025 (DAVAS 2025), aimed at connecting stakeholders across the innovation ecosystem and positioning Da Nang as a dynamic destination for investors, start-ups, and innovative ventures seeking capital from both domestic and international sources.
This year’s summit welcomed 60 experts and speakers, along with over 20 well-known investors and venture capital funds from countries, including Singapore, Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), and Vietnam, representing a combined investment portfolio of approximately 3.5 billion USD.
Notably, 36 start-ups from various sectors such as technology, education, agriculture, and health care pitched for funding and explored opportunities for investment partnerships.
Beyond the pitch sessions, DAVAS 2025 featured a range of standout activities including - the launching of the Da Nang–Greater Bay Area Innovation Hub, three investment discussion panels, the signing of cooperation agreements on innovation, the debut of the city’s SIC student start-up network, and a showcase of innovative start-up booths.
Huynh Thi Tuong Vy, Deputy Director of Ecogreen Co., Ltd, who presented eco-friendly mesh bags made from recycled fishing nets at the event, said that this is a circular economy model – reusable, sustainable, and aimed at reducing plastic waste and raising environmental awareness. Despite its promising potential, the project still faces financial and market access barriers. At the forum, she sought support from investors and sponsors for initial funding over the next three years to produce 40,000 bags to be distributed free of charge. The initiative aligns with both Da Nang’s sustainable development goals and global green trends.
According to experts, Da Nang is steadily emerging as a leading innovation and start-up hub, with strong potential in high-tech sectors.
Tran Huyen Dinh, Chairman of the Fintech Application Committee under the Vietnam Blockchain Association, praised Da Nang’s leap of 130 places in the 2025 Global Start-up Ecosystem Index as proof of its strong digital economy and innovation strategies.
He highlighted incentives at the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park, such as extended tax breaks and equipment import exemptions, which attract high-tech investment. Dinh recommended stronger collaboration between regulators, businesses, and training institutions, along with a local technical coordination centre to support rapid innovation through sandbox initiatives.
Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, emphasised the city's proactive innovation policies, including tax exemptions, infrastructure support, and controlled trials for new technologies.
With the upcoming administrative mergence with Quang Nam province, Da Nang aims to strengthen its role in the national and regional economy and become a leading innovation and entrepreneurship hub in Southeast Asia. She also expressed plans to build a strong network of angel investors and venture capital funds to support start-ups./.
