Da Nang (VNA) – The Da Nang People’s Committee on August 1 organised an event entitled “Meet Korea in Da Nang: Opportunities to Strengthen Cooperation between Da Nang and Korean Partners” to promote strategic cooperation between the central city and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in investment, trade, tourism, and agriculture.

In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council Doan Ngoc Hung Anh underlined the importance of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the RoK.

He said Da Nang, with its strategic location in central region of Vietnam, has continuously expanded cooperation with Korean partners in many important fields, from tourism and trade to investment and agriculture.

As of December 2024, Da Nang had attracted 345 Korean-funded projects with total registered capital of about 1.33 billion USD. In the first six months of 2025 alone, exports from Da Nang to the RoK were estimated at 25 million USD. Tourism has been another success story, with Da Nang welcoming its one-millionth Korean visitor this year.

The official expressed hope that the event will help identify new areas of cooperation in high-tech agriculture, science and technology, high-quality tourism, trade, and investment – all of which could drive long-term, mutually beneficial growth.

Speaking at the event, Minister-Counselor and Consul General of the RoK to Vietnam Chang Ho-Seung emphasised that Vietnam is the ASEAN country most visited by Koreans, and that the nearly 500,000 people and 100,000 multicultural families living in the two nations have become “a strong bridge for bilateral ties.”

He described Da Nang as one of the most attractive destinations for both Korean travelers and businesses, saying the city is increasingly chosen as a hub for tourism and investment.

To further strengthen ties, the RoK Embassy in Hanoi and the Consulate General in Da Nang pledged to continue providing strong support so that local governments of both countries can build a solid foundation for cooperation.

The “Meet Korea in Da Nang” featured two main discussion sessions. The first focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Da Nang and Korean localities, while the second examined opportunities in investment, trade, tourism, and agriculture.

Officials from Da Nang’s Department of Industry and Trade and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism introduced new policies and investment opportunities, aiming to make the city even more attractive to Korean investors.
