Hanoi(VNA) – Deputy Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Discerment Council Most Venerable ThichThanh Sam passed away at 6:30 on March 13 in Bac Ninh province, aged 90,according to the Government’s Committee for Religious Affairs.

On its announcementthe same day, the Committee said Most Venerable Thich Thanh Sam had high prestigeand influences among monks and nuns and followers in and outside the country.  

He made numerouscontributions to Buddhism and the nation and had been conferred with the firstand third class Independence Order, the second class War Resistance Order,among others.

The dignitary died of old age and his funeral will be held on March 16 in KinhBac ward, Bac Ninh city in Bac Ninh province.-VNA

Lam Dong police complete Quang Trung Campaign six days ahead of schedule
