Dong Nai willing to accompany Taiwanese businesses

Dong Nai (VNA) – The southern province of Dong Nai will try itsbest to create optimal conditions for Taiwanese businesses, said Tran Van Vinh,Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee. 

The official made the commitment at a dialoguewith Taiwanese enterprises on May 30 to clear up their concerns while operatingin the locality. 

At the event, many Taiwanese firms raisedqueries regarding work permit exemption and energy labelling, along with issueson local transport and health insurance. 

Vinh praised the Taiwanese businesses forcreating jobs, helping spur the local economy in a sustainable manner. 

Zhang Cuifen, deputy head of the Taipei Economicand Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City, said Taiwanese investors have beguntheir operation in Vietnam since 1988 with Dong Nai as their first destination. 

In 2016, Dong Nai took the lead nationwide inattracting Taiwanese investors, she said, noting that Taiwanese investmentprojects have been expanding beyond production to health care. 

The Taiwanese enterprises have also closelycoordinated with local authorities in education, culture and tourism, sheadded. 

They have to date invested in 286 projectsvalued at over 5.15 billion USD, focusing on garments-textiles, footwear,electronics, steel and timber products. 

In the first four months of this year, theTaiwanese businesses’ export-import turnover exceeded 1.9 billion USD, makingup 19 percent of Dong Nai’s total export-import revenue. 

They also contributed 902 billion VND (39.7million USD) to the State budget, accounting for 20 percent of the amountcollected by the local Department of Customs during the period.-VNA
