Hue (VNA) – The Election Committee of Hue city held a conference on March 18 to announce the results of the election of deputies to the municipal People’s Council for the ninth tenure (2026–2031).

Nguyen Quang Tuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Council and Vice Chairman of the city’s Election Committee, said there were 89 candidates running in 14 constituencies while the number of seats allocated was 53. All 53 candidates who gained the required vote-count results were reported to the Election Committee for consideration and official announcement as elected deputies. No constituency is required to hold a re-election or an additional vote.

Tuan assessed that the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term in Hue city were conducted successfully, ensuring democracy, convenience, safety and compliance with the law. Voter turnout was high, exceeding 99%.

He expressed confidence that the elected deputies will fully uphold their responsibilities toward voters.

According to the committee’s report, on the Election Day of March 15, 2026, all 676 polling stations across the city were opened by 7am as prescribed, including 32 polling areas that began voting from 5–6am. Immediately after the opening ceremonies, voters in localities enthusiastically cast their ballots. Some voters aged over 100 and heads of religious organisations voted early, creating a strong ripple effect.

Observations at polling stations showed that voters participated in the election in a neat, respectful and serious manner, reflecting the significance of the national festival. In most mountainous communes, despite difficult terrain and scattered populations, residents still turned out early, resulting in a high participation rate.

The city has 970,549 registered voters, of whom 970,515 cast ballots, equivalent to 99.99%, demonstrating strong public interest and sense of responsibility in selecting representatives to local bodies of the state power.

On this occasion, the Hue Election Committee also reported the vote-count results for deputies to the 16th National Assembly. A total of 17 candidates, including 14 nominated by the city and three by central agencies, ran in four constituencies to fill nine seats. All nine candidates who gained the required vote-count results are expected to be reported to the National Election Council for consideration and official recognition as elected deputies, ensuring sufficient quantity and structure, with no need for re-election or additional voting./.
