Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved three projects funded by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in the 2012-2016 period, according to the Vietnam Government Portal (VGP).

The first non-refundable project worth 85,000 USD aims to increase community veterinary capacity in support of the Food Safety Law and improve the control and reduction of human infectious risks from plants and animals (second phase).

The second 1.7 million USD project will provide technical assistance for improving response to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the project to build rice varieties in Hoa Tien commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city will be given a non-refundable aid of 52,528 USD.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will work with the FAO Office in Vietnam and relevant agencies to sign and implement the projects.

On the same day, the PM also approved a 566,913 USD project on employment, stabilisation and restructuring policies towards effective growth model for Vietnam, funded by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).-VNA
