Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia has inaugurated an International Student Arrival Centre (ISAC) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), marking a significant step in its ambition to become a global education hub.
Speaking at the launch ceremony on February 10, Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said the establishment of ISAC reflects Malaysia’s commitment to ensuring that international students feel welcomed, valued and safe from the moment they arrive in the country.
The centre is designed to showcase the best of Malaysia through efficient services, clear guidance and a warm introduction to the country’s culture and hospitality.
Malaysia currently hosts more than 150,000 international students from over 160 countries, reinforcing its position as a leading destination for international education in the region.
Chairman of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) Datuk Ahmad Shalimin Ahmad Shaffie said ISAC is the first facility of its kind in the world, created to directly receive and assist international students upon arrival at the airport. The centre is expected to play a key role in facilitating faster immigration clearance, particularly during peak periods.
Beyond providing facilities and administrative support, ISAC also reflects Malaysia’s tradition of hospitality by helping students feel welcomed and supported, creating a sense of home from their first moments in the country.
The centre is established through collaboration among the Ministry of Higher Education, EMGS, the Immigration Department, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd and higher education institutions.
With the launch of ISAC, Malaysia is sending a clear message about its determination to build an open, high-quality international education environment, attract global talent and enhance the global standing of its education sector./.
