- Vietnam’s coal imports are forecast to rise to meetdomestic production demand, according to a draft strategy for developing thecoal industry in Vietnam recently introduced by the Ministry of Industry andTrade (MoIT).

Accordingly, Vietnam will import about 50-83 million tonnesof coal per year during the period from 2025 to 2035, with the volume graduallyfalling to about 32-35 million tonnes by 2045. Read full story

- In response to impacts of storm Mulan in the Gulf of Tokin,Vietnamese airlines have adjusted operation plans of flights to and from someaffected airports from August 11.

Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines will cancel two flights betweenthe northern port city of Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City. It will also delayflights between Hai Phong and a series of localities – Buon Me Thuot, Cam Ranh,Da Lat and HCM City – on August 11./.Read full story

Vietnam proposes key priorities for advancing gender equality

Sharing Vietnam’s achievements, Thanh noted that women account for nearly one-third of Vietnam’s National Assembly members; 40% of Vietnam’s STEM workforce is female; 26.5% of businesses in the country are owned by women; women account for 68.5% of the country’s labour force, surpassing the global average of 48.7% and 14.4% of Vietnam’s peacekeepers are women, higher than the UN average of 10.2%.

Singaporean leader hosts welcome ceremony for Vietnamese Party chief
