- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised outgoing Philippine Ambassador Meynardo Los Baños Montealegre for reinforcing bilateral ties in recent years during a reception in Hanoi on January 3.
PM Chinh said under Montealegre’s tenure, both sides effectively rolled out the 2019-2024 Action Plan for their Strategic Partnership. High-level exchanges and contacts have been maintained, highlighted by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s state visit to Vietnam during which five cooperation agreements were signed across various sectors, providing fresh impetus to relations. - Vietnam is deeply concerned about information regarding the current situation in Venezuela, spokeswoman of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said on January 3.
Answering reporters’ question on Vietnam’s response to the situation in Venezuela, Hang said Vietnam calls on all relevant parties to respect international law and the United Nations Charter, including the principles of respecting national sovereignty and refraining from the use or threat of force in international relations. - Vietnam’s corporate bond market continued its recovery in 2025 with issuance estimated to total 575.4 trillion VND (21.8 billion USD), up 11.3% over 2024, according to the Vietnam Bond Market Association.
The expansion, however, was well below 2024’s growth rate of 34.6%. Private placements accounted for 90.6% with 486 issuances. Read full story
- The Vietnamese stock market closed 2025 with strong but impressive volatility, as both indices and liquidity recorded historic milestones, reflecting the strong return of capital flows and renewed investor confidence.
At the close of the final trading session of 2025, the VN-Index, tracking the performance of the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), rose 17.59 points to 1,784.49, gaining nearly 518 points from the beginning of the year or approximately 41%. Read full story
- Noi Bai International Airport handled around 115,000 passengers on January 4, the final day of the New Year holiday, hitting the peak of the four-day travel period.
Of these, international traffic reached 50,000 passengers - a record high - with 330 flights, while domestic traffic was estimated at around 65,000 passengers on 320 flights. Read full story
- Hanoi welcomed around 560,000 visitors during the New Year holiday from January 1 to 4, earning a total revenue of 2.1 trillion VND (nearly 79.85 million USD), marking increases of 250% in volume and 254% in value compared to the same period last year.
During the days, the capital city served 110,000 foreign arrivals and 450,000 domestic tourists, up nearly 287% and over 240%, respectively. Read full story
- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said on January 4 that its Cinema Department has requested Netflix to remove the film “Shine on me” from its website and app.
In a January 3 notice to Netflix, the department said it had received information that the film was being distributed online in Vietnam via Netflix’s website https://www.netflix.com and app. The 27-episode series is currently available in the country up to episode 25. Netflix has rated the series T13 (13+), making it suitable for viewers aged 13 and older./. Read full story
