- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on March 10 chaired a meeting with ministries, agencies and the energy security task force to discuss measures to ensure proactive energy supply for socio-economic development, particularly in pursuit of double-digit growth targets, amid the impact of Middle East tensions on global energy supply chains.
At the meeting, participants analysed and assessed developments in the Middle East conflict, as well as its potential impact on global energy supplies, particularly crude oil. They also discussed forecasts for global oil prices in the coming period, outlined possible scenarios that may arise, and proposed response measures to help mitigate risks and ensure energy security. - Vietnam is emerging as an important link in the global semiconductor value chain, particularly in chip packaging and testing, as the country continues to lay key foundations for developing its semiconductor industry, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has stated.
Deputy PM Dung, who is head of the National Steering Committee on Semiconductor Industry Development, made the remark while chairing the committee’s first meeting in 2026 in Hanoi on March 10. Read full story
- National Assembly (NA)Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong has requested the authority of Pu Luong commune in Thanh Hoa province to prepare voter cards for Vietnamese tourists staying in the locality who may wish to vote but cannot return to their place of residence on the election day (March 15).
Phuong, who is also head of the sub-committee on ensuring security, order, and social safety under the National Election Council, made the request during a working session with Pu Luong commune’s election committee on March 10 to review preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure. - Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung and his Korean counterpart Cho Hyun discussed measures to further promote cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in their phone talks on March 10.
During the talks, Cho affirmed that he stands ready to work closely with Trung to effectively implement existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the annual dialogue between Vietnamese and Korean FMs on reviewing the implementation of the Action Programme for the Vietnam –RoK comprehensive strategic partnership signed in June 2023; as well as broader cooperation between the two ministries and the two countries in general. - The Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) announced on the afternoon of March 10 that total vehicle sales by its member companies reached 19,278 units in February, marking a sharp 48% decline compared with the previous month.
Of the total sales, passenger cars accounted for the largest share with 12,376 units, down 53% month-on-month. Commercial vehicles followed with 6,542 units, a decrease of 37%, while 360 specialised vehicles were sold, down 22% from the previous month. Read full story
