- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on March 7 inspected the progress of the Gia Binh International Airport project in the northern province of Bac Ninh and a road connecting the airport with Hanoi capital city.

The airport project is being developed in the communes of Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Nhan Thang and Lam Thao, covering a total land area of approximately 1,885 hectares. It has a total investment of about 196.3 trillion VND (7.48 billion USD), including more than 141.2 trillion VND for the first phase. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for proactive, flexible and timely policy responses to rapidly evolving global developments, while chairing a meeting with the Policy Advisory Council on March 7.

At the meeting, participants discussed the socio-economic situation, global developments affecting Vietnam, and key tasks and solutions for the time ahead. They conducted a comprehensive review of both international and domestic conditions, identifying opportunities and challenges facing Vietnam’s economy while proposing practical measures to achieve rapid and sustainable growth in 2026 and the following years. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the opening ceremony of the Ban Flower (Bauhinia) Festival 2026 in Dien Bien province on March 8 evening, during which he urged the locality to turn tourism into a key driver of growth for both the province and the wider Northwestern region.

Themed “Hoa Ban – Khat vong Dien Bien,” the festival was a highlight of the Dien Bien Culture and Tourism Week running from March 6 – 12. - Nearly 5,000 volunteers, mostly university students and youth union members in Ho Chi Minh City, participated in a blood donation drive on March 8 under the 18th “Chu Nhat Do” (Red Sunday) Campaign.

The event was among the highlights of the nationwide Red Sunday programme, which encourages the community's participation in voluntary blood donation to help ensure adequate blood supplies for hospitals, particularly at the start of the year when demand is typically high. Read full story

- Amid a worsening conflict in the Middle East, no casualties or property damage have been recorded among the Vietnamese community in Israel so far, and Vietnamese people have complied with the host country's guidelines, according to the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel.

The embassy on early March 8 morning (Vietnam time) issued a new notice to the Vietnamese community in the host country regarding safety measures. Read full story

- Voters at 20 out of the 22 polling stations in Truong Sa (Spratly) special zone in the central province of Khanh Hoa cast their ballots on March 8 in early voting for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, one week ahead of the nationwide election day on March 15.

At the polling station on Sinh Ton island, Colonel Bui Quang Thuyen, deputy commander of Naval Region 4, representatives from regional agencies and Brigade 146, along with officers, soldiers and residents on the island, attended the opening ceremony and exercised their voting rights. - The Vietnamese Government has issued Resolution No. 36/NQ-CP outlining urgent measures to safeguard national energy security and prevent fuel disruption amid escalating Middle East tensions.

Under the resolution, the Government required oil contractors to prioritise selling crude oil or condensate which has not yet been committed for export to the domestic market if suitable for domestic refinery processing. Read full story

- An antique vase decorated with a five-clawed dragon and lotus vine motifs will appear at an auction on March 12 hosted by Sloane Street Auctions, an art auction house located on Sloane Street in London.

Behind this artifact lies more than a story about the art market. It also represents hope and a source of support for life-changing surgeries for Vietnamese children born with facial differences. All proceeds from this special auction lot will be donated to Facing the World, a UK-based charity that has worked closely with Vietnam for nearly two decades to provide life-changing surgery and treatment for disadvantaged children with facial differences. - The Ho Chi Minh City Labour Federation on March 6 signed a cooperation agreement with LNT 7979 Service Development JSC to develop 30,000 social housing units for workers, aiming to improve living conditions for low-income labourers in the city.
