- The Vietnamese banking sector must deepen innovation, accompany businesses and citizens, demonstrate flexibility, and contribute to rapid and sustainable development so that its benefits are widely shared, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
Addressing the sector’s 9th National Patriotic Emulation Congress for 2025–2030, held in Hanoi on November 24 alongside the five-year review of the National Strategy on Gender Equality, and the “Excellence at Work and at Home” movement for the 2020 - 2025 period, PM Chinh praised banks for bolstering macroeconomic stability, curbing inflation, safeguarding the system and supporting businesses and households. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has demanded the rapid finalisation of a draft Resolution outlining recovery measures for areas ravaged by recent storms and floods in central and Central Highlands regions.
During a fundraising campaign in Hanoi on November 24 in support of communities hit by storms and floods, PM Chinh, joined by Government officials, the Cabinet’s Party Committee, advisory units and staff from the Government Office, observed a minute’s silence for victims of deadly floods before everyone pledged at least one day’s salary to relief efforts. - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on November 24 received a delegation of the European–ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) and the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham), reaffirming Vietnam’s commitment to fostering a transparent, stable and favourable investment environment for European enterprises.
The delegation, led by EU-ABC Chairman Jens Ruebbert, included more than 120 representatives from over 40 major European corporations. Read full story
- Fresh off their trip to Africa and the Middle East, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse, together with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, laid new strategic ground for diversifying partnerships and expanding development space for Vietnamese businesses and localities. The trip included official visits to Kuwait and Algeria, and engagement in the G20 Summit and bilateral activities in South Africa, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung.
Highlighting key results of the trip, Trung said it followed a dynamic year of high-level external engagement with the Middle East–Africa region. He noted that the visit featured an exceptionally hectic schedule ranging from meetings with heads of state, government, and parliament, as well as leaders of political parties to engagements with major economic groups, policy addresses, cultural and historical events, and meetings with Vietnamese communities in all three countries. - Surgeons at the 108 Military Central Hospital successfully carried out a multi-organ transplant using organs from a brain-dead donor on November 22, marking two consecutive weeks in November during which the hospital has helped save 29 patients.
In this case, the hospital retrieved the heart, two kidneys (one of which was transplanted into a serviceman), and the liver - which was split for transplant into two patients. The right lobe was transplanted into a male soldier at the hospital, while the left lobe was allocated to Vinmec Hospital for transplant into a one-year-old child. Two corneas were preserved for future transplants, and the lungs were transferred to the National Lung Hospital. Read full story
- Indonesia’s Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center of the The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) on November 24 reported that the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java caused severe injuries to three people and displaced more than 500 residents.
The three injured victims are currently receiving treatment at hospital while the residents from three villages of Supiturang, Oro-Oro Ombo and Penanggal are evacuated to two schools./. Read full story
