Hanoi (VNA) – One person was killed and 24 others were reported missing after a passenger boat sank off Indonesia's South Sulawesi province following an engine failure on July 15, Xinhua news agency cited Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) as saying.
The Basarnas office in Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi province, said on July 16 that 49 people had been rescued so far.
According to the head of the office, authorities were initially informed that there were 50 people on board, but the figure was later revised to 74 after verification.
Further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident./.
