PM Dung welcomes foreign leaders to WEF on East Asia

bilateral relations to a new height in the spirit of the comprehensive
cooperative strategic partnership between the two countries.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung reiterated Vietnam’s stance while receiving Vice Chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Zhizhen in Ho Chi Minh City on June 6 on the sidelines of the on-going World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia .
As a friendly neighbour, Vietnam is pleased at the achievements that China has made in recent years as well as the development of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, PM Dung stressed.
He also spoke highly of the cooperation between the CPPCC and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, expressing his wish that the two sides would continue to strengthen cooperation, thus contributing to the two countries’ friendship.
CPPCC Vice Chairwoman Wang said the 2010 WEF on East Asia held in Vietnam not only promotes cooperation in economy but also in many other fields.
She also suggested the two countries further strengthen exchanges between the two countries’ young people to increase their mutual understanding.
On the occasion, PM Dung asked Wang Zhizhen to convey his invitation to Premier Wen Jiabao to attend the 17 th ASEAN Summit and visit Vietnam.
The same day, PM Dung met with the Lao PM Bouasone Bouphavanh, during which he said the Vietnamese government encourages its enterprises to boost investment in Laos, adding that he wanted the Lao government to facilitate Vietnamese entrepreneurs to do their business in the country.
The two PMs agreed to speed up economic, trade and investment cooperation, and build a mechanism to provide information for enterprises of both countries to facilitate investment and production activities.
They also stressed the need to increase bilateral and multilateral cooperation as well as coordination at international arena, making contribution to building an ASEAN community.
Welcoming Cambodian PM Hun Sen, PM Dung suggested the two countries make more efforts to ensure the progress of border marker demarcation and planting.
He also expressed his pleasure at the development of the long-lasting traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
PM Hun Sen affirmed his country’s support for Vietnamese enterprises in Cambodia as well as the strengthening of multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.
They both expressed their satisfaction at bilateral cooperation in aviation, telecommunications, banking and rubber tree plantation.
They also exchanged measures to increase agricultural, industrial and rubber tree plantation cooperation.
At their meeting on the sidelines of the forum, PM Dung and Thai PM Abhisit Vejjajiva agreed to the assign both foreign ministries to organise the meeting of the Vietnam-Thailand Trade Cooperation Committee, suggesting the two governments resume joint meeting to create conditions for economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and within the East-West corridor and Mekong sub-region countries.
PM Abhisit Vejjajiva affirmed that Thailand completely support Vietnam’s position of ASEAN Chairman and its attendance at the upcoming G20 meeting.
Thailand will make a positive contribution to the success of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, he said.
PM Dung and Myanmar’s PM Thein Sein, during their meeting, affirmed to direct relevant ministries and agencies to remove obstacles in order to boost cooperation in agriculture, industrial crop plantation, seafood, finance-banking, aviation, telecommunications, oil and gas, mining, electrical equipment production and supply, auto assembly and manufacturing, civil engineering and trade and investment.
PM Dung affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to ties with Myanmar and wishes to increasingly develop traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with the country.
He also asked Myanmar’s government to create favourable conditions to boost investment and trade cooperation between the two countries as well as facilitate Vietnamese businesses’ investment in Myanmar./.
