Da Nang (VNA) – After more than 40 days of sustained deployment across the central and Central Highlands regions, the Quang Trung Campaign, launched to rapidly rebuild homes damaged by floods, has concluded with results exceeding all targets, highlighting the resolve, responsibility and people-centred spirit of the People’s Public Security forces amid escalating climate and extreme weather challenges.

In 2025, consecutive severe storms and floods battered central and Central Highlands localities, inflicting heavy losses on lives and property. In response, the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security leadership designated the Quang Trung Campaign as an urgent, core political mission imbued with deep humane significance.

Speaking at the campaign’s review conference, Lieutenant General Dang Hong Duc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, said the campaign not only fulfilled its objectives but also surpassed both timelines and workloads. Its achievements helped thousands of affected households stabilise their lives and celebrate the Lunar New Year in newly built, safe and durable homes.

The campaign set out clear and uncompromising goals: rebuild every destroyed home and repair all damaged ones to guarantee safe living conditions for affected residents, making sure no one was left behind.

In nine provinces and cities across the central and Central Highlands regions, over 11,000 public security officers and staff were mobilised to work alongside grassroots security forces and local authorities. The ministry also sent an extra 300 mobile police officers and public security cadets to assist with housing construction, repairs, and post-disaster recovery efforts.

The forces spearheaded the construction of 419 new houses for families who lost theirs, while also taking part in repairing housing and infrastructure in Ha Tinh, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong. Overall, the workload was completed 30% ahead of the deadline set by the Prime Minister.

In parallel, all schools and medical facilities damaged by storms and floods were fully repaired and restored before December 20, 2025, ensuring the rapid resumption of essential public services.

Public security officers nationwide contributed one day’s salary, raising more than 124 billion VND to assist disaster-hit communities, while over 120 billion VND was mobilised from social sources. More than 900 tonnes of essential goods, clean water, medical supplies and medicines were delivered promptly, and medical teams were dispatched to provide healthcare and disease prevention services.

At the conclusion of the campaign, the Ministry of Public Security awarded certificates of merit to 49 collectives and 95 individuals for outstanding performance, and Tet gifts were presented directly to disadvantaged households./.
