Hanoi (VNA) –
Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Kang Kyung-wha plans to visit Brunei this week to seek to enhance her country’s ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the RoK Foreign Ministry said on January 10.

As scheduled, Minister Kang will hold talks with her counterpart Erywan Yusof on January 12.

According to the ministry’s Spokesperson Noh Kyu-duk, Kang will pay a courtesy call on Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

Kang’s three-day visit, from January 11, comes at a time when the Moon Jae-in administration is implementing its New Southern Policy with the aim of stepping up the RoK’s ties with India and Southeast Asian countries.

In 2019, the RoK and Brunei celebrate the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the RoK marks the 30 anniversary of establishing formal dialogue with ASEAN.-VNA
