Abu Dhabi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on December 14 left the United Arab Emirates’ capital of Abu Dhabi, concluding her trip to the country to attend the 11th Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament.

The visit was made at the invitation of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Saber Chowdhury and President of the Federal National Council of the UAE Amal Al Qubaisi.

This is the first time Vietnam has sent a female speaker of parliament to the event.

The summit approved the Abu Dhabi Declaration “United for shaping the future, for a better world", which committed to addressing challenges facing the world through promoting links and partnership between Governments and private groups.

The Vietnamese delegation’s attendance at the Summit represented Vietnam’s international integration, contributing to improving the position of the country and its legislative body in regional and global parliament forums, as well as affirming Vietnam’s policy on gender equality.

During her stay, NA Chairwoman Ngan met with representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese Community in the UAE. She informed them about the contribution of the Vietnamese delegation to the Summit.

She praised the embassy’s endeavours to promote friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE. -VNA
