Two sentenced to life imprisonment in transnational drug trafficking case

The People’s Court of the southwestern province of Tay Ninh sentenced two people to life imprisonment for trafficking over 2.9 kg of Methamphetamine from Cambodia to Vietnam at their first instance trial on August 14.

Tay Ninh (VNA) –
The People’s Courtof the southwestern province of Tay Ninh sentenced two people to lifeimprisonment for trafficking over 2.9 kg of Methamphetamine from Cambodia toVietnam at their first instance trial on August 14.

The defendants are Dinh Van Hung (born in 1984)and Tran Thi Hong (born in 1979), both from the Mekong Delta province of DongThap.

Another man, Nguyen Van Duong (born in 1987)from the southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, was also sentenced to 20 years injail.

According to the verdict, on January 10, 2018,Hung was hired by a Cambodian woman to transport illegal drugs from Cambodia toVietnam.

He was arrested by border guards from Moc Baiinternational border gate the same day while trying to pass the Nam Hiep Thanhborder gate in Tay Ninh province.

He cooperated with the border guards and policefrom Tay Ninh, who managed to seize Hong and Duong in Ho Chi Minh City the sameday. –VNA
