Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Vu Le Thai Hoang recently met Claudia Reinprecht, Tech Ambassador at the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria, to discuss cooperation in advanced and emerging technologies.

Hoang highlighted Vietnam’s priorities under Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, which focuses on making breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, including stepping up cooperation in scientific research and technological development with the countries having high sci-tech and digital transformation levels, paticularly in such fields as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum technology, semiconductor, nuclear energy, and other strategic technologies.

He stressed that these are all emerging technology sectors for which Austria possesses leading source and core technologies in Europe and the world.

Given this, Vietnam is highly interested in and wishes to strengthen partnerships with Austrian hi-tech companies, helping it make breakthrough in science, technology, and digital transformation.

For her part, Reinprecht praised Vietnam’s determination and vision under Resolution 57, affirming the Austrian ministry’s support for deepening bilateral cooperation in high and strategic technologies.

She noted her country’s strong position in not only traditional technologies like mechanics, automobile, and electronics but also semiconductor technology, quantum technology, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, neurotechnology, and life sciences. The Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) is investing in cybersecurity research and will host major international conferences on data science and digital security in May and June.

The official stated that there remains ample room for cooperation in source and core technologies between the two countries, including in hi-tech manpower training.

Hoang emphasised technology diplomacy as a key priority during his term in Austria, announcing a plan to organise the Vietnam – Austria forum on high technology and innovation, in coordination with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, in Vienna on May 16 this year./.
