Vietnam-Czech, Slovakia relations reviewed

Relations and cooperation between Vietnam with the Czech Republic and Slovakia were reviewed at a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City on January 31 by the municipal Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) and the Vietnam-Czech and Vietnam-Slovakia friendship associations.

Speakingat the ceremony marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties betweenVietnam and the two European nations, HUFO President Le Hung Quocstressed that Vietnamese people always remember and appreciate valuablesupport from governments of the Czech Republic and Slovakia for Vietnamover last decades.

Over the last 65 years, friendship andall-around connection between Vietnam and the two countries have beenconstantly strengthened and developed, with many cooperation agreementsbeing signed.

Ambassador of the Czech Republic to VietnamMartin Klepetko highlighted fruitful results in the bilateral diplomaticties over the last 65 years, saying that his country will work togetherwith Vietnam to bring their relations to a higher level, especially ineconomics, politics, and culture.

Slovakian Ambassador to Vietnam Igor Pacolak said he hopes Vietnam and Slovakia will further promote their ties at all levels.

Herevealed that his country will accelerate economic and culturalprojects in Vietnam in the time ahead, aiming to upgrade theVietnam-Slovakia relations in to a comprehensive strategic partnershipin the future.

The Czech Republic is one of regularofficial development assistance (ODA) providers for Vietnam.Export-import turnover between Vietnam and the country in 2014 wasvalued at 294 million USD.

Meanwhile, Slovakia is Vietnam’ssecond largest trade partner and important investor in Central andEastern Europe. Total of export-import turnover between the twocountries reached over 309 million USD. Slovakia has poured 305million USD into projects in Vietnam so far.-VNA

NA leader hosts Belgian King in Hanoi

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

Vietnam wants to strengthen multi-faceted cooperation with Belgium: State President

President Cuong warmly welcomed King Philippe and a high-ranking delegation of the Kingdom of Belgium on their first state visit to Vietnam since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973, affirming that the trip is an important historical milestone, opening up a new page for the friendly relations between the two countries.
