Vietnam looking into information on possible debris of missing plane

Vietnam is actively verifying the information on possible debris of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane reportedly spotted by Chinese satellites at 6.42 degrees latitude North and 105.37 degrees longitude East, an official said on March 13.

Lt.Col. Nguyen Ngoc Son,a member of the National Committee for Search and Rescue, further saidVietnam has sent AN26 aircraft along the flight information region (FIR)to comb for the reported debris.

The committeeconfirms that Vietnam is still working closely with other countriesinvolving the search for the plane that went missing on its way fromKuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8.

Four Vietnameseaircraft, including a patrol CASA, two AN26, and a MI171 helicopter,plus a number of ships are dispatched on March 13 to continue the searchfor the ill-fated plane.

The Vietnamese Air and AirDefence Force on March 13 continued widening the search area for themissing plane, focusing on the mainland and forest in the southernprovinces of Ca Mau and Kien Giang.

Sen.Lt.Col. NgoVi Son, captain of the MI171 helicopter, confirmed that after two hoursand a half combing the area, the force failed to detect any trace of themissing plane on the land.

The search has entered the sixth day, yet there have been no traces of the Malaysian airliner.

An official from force said they will continue enlarging and maintaining the search area in the coming time.-VNA
