- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam hosted a reception in Hanoi on April 28 for Secretary General of the ruling Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) Party Chakil Aboobabcar, who is on a working visit to Vietnam and attending the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.

Lam welcomed and thanked Aboobacar for leading a high-ranking delegation of the FRELIMO Party to visit Vietnam and attend the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has affirmed that Vietnam considers Japan one of its most important and trustworthy partners, and the bilateral relationship has potential for stronger cooperation based on political trust, long-standing people-to-people exchanges and complementary strengths.

- State President Luong Cuong visited the President Ho Chi Minh relic site at the Presidential Palace on April 28 morning, offering incense at House 67 to commemorate the late leader, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025).

In a solemn, emotional atmosphere, President Cuong pledged to continue striving, together with the entire Party and people, to uphold the strength of great national unity and the aspiration for development, advancing the nation into a new era of prosperity and growth. Read full story

- State President Luong Cuong hosted a reception in Hanoi on April 28 morning for Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, who is on a three-day official visit to Vietnam.

President Cuong, on behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, welcomed PM Ishiba's first visit to Vietnam as head of the Japanese Government. He expressed his delight at witnessing the substantive, comprehensive, and effective development of the bilateral relationship in all areas and achieving many new development steps and outstanding achievements after nearly two years of upgrading the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World. - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a working delegation on April 28 attended the inauguration ceremony of a memorial site dedicated late Party General Secretary Le Duan in Trieu Thanh commune, Trieu Phong district, the central province of Quang Tri.

The event was part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025) and the 118th birth anniversary of the late leader (April 7, 1907 – 2025). Read full story

- The spouse of Party General Secretary To Lam, Ngo Phuong Ly, received the spouse of visiting Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, Ishiba Yoshiko, in Hanoi on April 27, together taking part in a hands-on experience of making 'banh com' – the capital city’s traditional green dessert made from green sticky rice and mung beans.

Extending a heartfelt welcome to Ishiba on her first visit to Vietnam, Ly expressed her hope that she would enjoy many memorable experiences during her stay, thereby deepening her understanding of the country as well as its culture and people. Read full story

- A traditional ceramics festival opened in the southern province of Dong Nai on April 27, aiming to honour the traditional pottery-making craft, connect heritage with modernity, and promote the cultural identity of Bien Hoa – Dong Nai to both domestic and international vistors.

Taking place from April 27 to 30, the festival features a wide range of activities, including exhibitions of ceramic products, a seminar on preserving and developing traditional pottery in the integration era, hands-on experiences at the Dong Nai College of Decorative Arts, a logo and brand identity design competition for the Bien Hoa - Dong Nai Traditional Pottery Festival, and booths showcasing One Commune-One Product (OCOP) and key rural industrial products./. Vietnamese Party leader receives Thai Prime Minister

The upgrade of Vietnam - Thailand ties to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is a historic milestone heralding a new chapter of the two countries’ relations and meeting their development demand in the new period, said Party General Secretary To Lam.

Vietnam, Senegal enhance cooperation across key sectors

In the first four months of 2025, Vietnam’s exports to Senegal stood at 43.43 million USD, nearly equalling the total for 2024 (43.91 million USD). Vietnam mainly exports rice, pepper, agricultural products, and components, while its imports from Senegal include raw cashew nuts, fishmeal, seafood, and cotton.

Potential to promote Vietnam – Nepal trade

The Vietnam-Nepal relationship is primarily centred on religion, education, people-to-people exchange, business, trade, and investment, Upadhyay said, noting people-to-people diplomacy forms the foundation of this relationship.

Prime Minister hosts welcome ceremony for Thai counterpart

This is the first visit to Vietnam by PM Paetongtarn since she took office, and also the first by a Thai Government leader in 11 years. Additionally, it marks the first joint cabinet meeting between the two countries’ prime ministers in 10 years.

Vietnam endorses widespread compassion, harmony, tolerance: ambassador

Vietnam has successfully hosted the 2025 UN Day of Vesak Celebrations, drawing Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers from numerous countries. Giang noted that this year’s event coincided with Vietnam’s 50th anniversary of national reunification and forthcoming 80th National Day.
