Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) - Ship 17 of Brigade 171 under Naval Region 2, together with a working delegation of the Vietnam People’s Navy, on January 28 departed from the naval port of Brigade 171 in Rach Dua ward, Ho Chi Minh City, beginning its voyage to participate in activities within the framework of the 2026 multilateral naval exercise (MILAN) in India.
The delegation is headed by Colonel Le Dinh Nghi, Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 2.
According to the plan, during the voyage, the delegation will pay courtesy calls on local authorities at ports of call and at the Lumut Naval Base of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
Upon arrival in India, Ship 17 and the Vietnamese delegation will take part in the MILAN 2026.
Throughout the journey of more than 5,000 nautical miles, officers and sailors aboard Ship 17 will combine long-distance sea training with efforts to enhance their capabilities in command organisation, coordination, combat readiness, and mastery of weapons and technical equipment. The voyage also provides an opportunity to strengthen endurance, discipline and professionalism among naval personnel.
The deployment is conducted at the invitations of the Malaysian Navy and the Indian Navy, with the aim of further consolidating and strengthening friendly relations and effective cooperation between the Vietnamese military and navy and their counterparts in participating countries./.
