Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and South Africa have performed fine coordination at multilateral forums as well as in economy, trade and investment, stated President Nguyen Xuan Phuc while receiving outgoing South African Ambassador to Vietnam Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro in Hanoi on December 15.

Praising the diplomat’s contributions to boosting the nations’ traditional friendship and mutual trust, and to creating favourable conditions for further promoting the relations, President Phuc said Vietnam and South Africa have obtained new practical and effective progresses during the ambassador’s tenure.

The State leader noted there remains great potential for the two countries to step up their cooperation in the time to come.

He recommended the sides increase exchange of delegations, particularly high-level ones, and sustaining their inter-governmental meetings to find solutions to handle obstacles and promote trade.

For his part, Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro thanked the Vietnamese State and Government for supporting him in fulfilling his mission.

Considering trade collaboration a highlight of the bilateral ties in the past time, the diplomat stated that South Africa is clearly aware of Vietnam’s important role and position in the international arena and attaches importance to fostering cooperation with Vietnam at multilateral forums and international organisations./.
