Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese embassies in Mexico, Egypt and Austria recently convened overseas Vietnamese for the annual “Xuan Que Huong” (Homeland Spring) gatherings, a Lunar New Year (Tet) tradition fostering their ties to the homeland.
In his speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Nguyen Van Hai expressed pride in Vietnam’s great and comprehensive achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
According to him, the year 2025 marked major political and historical milestones, including the 80th anniversary of the nation’s founding and the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
Against a backdrop of global uncertainties and volatility, Vietnam sustained socio-political stability while delivering robust economic performance, with GDP expanding 8.02%, placing the country among the fastest-growing economies in Asia and worldwide. The year also saw continued institutional refinements and an enhanced global standing, he said.
The gathering featured spring-infused cultural performances, authentic traditional cuisine, and warm exchanges of wishes for a peaceful, healthy, and prosperous New Year.
Similar events in Egypt and Austria offered attendees and local friends an array of traditional Vietnamese dishes, music performances rich in national identity, and opportunities for heartfelt mutual greetings./.
