Vietnam's population exceeds 100 million people

Vietnam's population has exceeded 100 million people, with an average life expectancy reaching 73.7 years in 2023.

According to the Viet Nam Population Authority under the Ministry of Health, Vietnam has outpaced global trends in reducing maternal mortality and has achieved the highest level of modern contraceptive use worldwide.

The physical stature and strength of the population have also improved.

However, the agency said, Vietnam faces ongoing challenges in population management, including regional disparities in fertility rates, the risk of not achieving replacement fertility levels nationwide, rapid population aging, a high sex ratio at birth, and persisting issues with child and consanguineous marriages.

While there have been improvements in life expectancy, the average healthy life expectancy remains relatively low. The average healthy life expectancy is limited, standing at 63.2 years for men and 70 years for women./.
