Binh Thuan (VNA) – Power Plus Vietnam Co., Ltd on September 19 started construction of Tuy Phong solar power plant, the first of its kind in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan.

The project opened up a new period of clean, hi-tech energy development, and is expected to benefit the province’s socio-economic development, while contributing to environmental protection, climate change response, greenhouse gas emission reduction and sustainable development.

Covering 50 hectares in Vinh Hao commune, Tuy Phong district, the 1 billion VND (44,000 USD) plant has a designed capacity of 30MW, using technologies provided by the world’s leading businesses such as Jinko Solar, Power Electronic and Daihen.

Once operational in June 2019, it will churn out about 63 million kWh of electricity, serving power demand in production and daily activities in the province.

Statistics show that Binh Thuan has more than 40 locations that have been planned for solar power projects, mostly in Bac Binh, Tuy Phong and Ham Tan districts.

The province is expected to attract investment in solar power projects with a combined capacity of over 4,000 MW by 2030, and become a clean energy hub in the future.

Binh Thuan has to date had 14 solar power projects approved in principle with accumulated investment capital of 20.7 trillion VND (890 million USD).

Dry climate and sunny weather, especially in the northern area, are advantages of Binh Thuan to develop solar power along with wind power projects.-VNA
