14th Party Central Committee convenes first meeting

Hanoi (VNA) – The 14th Party Central Committee convened its first meeting at the Party Central Committee's headquarters in Hanoi on January 23 morning.

As scheduled, the first meeting of the newly elected Party Central Committee will continue with the personnel work, including electing members of the Politburo and the Secretariat, the Party General Secretary, and members of the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission.

In the afternoon, the 14th National Party Congress will hold the closing session.

On January 22, delegates to the Congress joined a full-day session, focusing on personnel matters of the 14th Party Central Committee. Party General Secretary To Lam, President of the Presidium, chaired the meeting.

Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of its Organisation Commission, presented on behalf of the Presidium a report of the 13th Party Central Committee on personnel affairs of the 14th Party Central Committee.

The Congress discussed and approved the number of members of the 14th Party Central Committee, consisting of 180 official and 20 alternate members.

Delegates worked within their delegations to review and discuss the personnel report, consider self-nominations and nominations, and examine personnel documents and profiles. The Presidium then listened to reports from the heads of delegations on discussion results.

The Presidium reported to the Congress, voted on a list of candidates for the 14th Party Central Committee, and elected the vote counting committee. The vote counting committee gave guidance on the election process. Later, the Congress proceeded with marking votes, casting ballots, announcing the results, and approving the list of members of the 14th Party Central Committee./.
