The Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) has been selected the Best Bank in Vietnam in 2009 by the Finance Asia magazine of the Haymarket Media Group Limited.

This is the second time this year ACB has won the title. In May, it was voted Vietnam ’s “Best Domestic Bank” by the Asiamoney magazine.

Finance Asia based its selection on a bank’s financial situation (profit, overdue debts, return on equity and capital safe rate), operation scale (total assets, total loan book, deposit base and the number of branches), long-term vision and strategy, prestige in the market and share analysts’ assessments.

The ACB has for over 16 years consolidated its position as the leading joint- stock commercial bank in Vietnam with a high and sustainable growth rate.

The bank now has a charter capital of 6.3 trillion VND and more than 20,000 shareholders, 318 times more than when it was first established.

Its total assets are ranked fifth in Vietnam ’s banking system, as it holds 10 percent of the country’s savings and more than 57 percent of the international credit card market shares.

The bank has 200 branches nationwide and has provided customers with more than 200 products over the years.

Its pre-tax profit reached 2.5 trillion VND last year, a year-on-year increase of 36.9 percent./.
