- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 2 signed an official dispatch urging ministries, agencies, and localities to promptly address the aftermath of recent floods in central Vietnam.
The dispatch was sent to the secretaries of the Party Committees and chairpersons of the People’s Committees of Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Ha Tinh, and Nghe An provinces, as well as Hue and Da Nang cities. - As Vietnam is a long-standing and reliable partner of the German state of Thuringia, the two sides can further consolidate and expand their mutually beneficial cooperation by focusing more on agriculture and agri-tech - sectors in which Vietnam has strengths, said Marcus Malsch, State Secretary of the Thuringian Ministry of Economy and Agriculture.
He made the remarks while leading a 40-member delegation of Thuringian enterprises and agricultural organisations on a working visit to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang from November 3 to 8. The trip aims to seek new partnerships in agriculture, food processing and human resources development, thereby opening up fresh avenues for bilateral cooperation. Read full story
- The 17th international conference on the East Sea themed “Unity in Uncertainties” opened in the central coastal city of Da Nang on November 3.
The two-day conference, held by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) and partner agencies, saw the participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Associate Prof., Dr. Le Hai Binh, and nearly 50 speakers who are leading experts in Vietnam, the region, and the world, along with more than 300 delegates, including 11 ambassadors, from nearly 40 countries and territories, and over 200 online participants. - Hanoi attracted 14.9 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in October, bringing total FDI inflows in the first ten months of 2025 to 3.91 billion USD, 2.4 times higher than the same period last year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.
From January to October, 342 new FDI projects were licensed with registered capital of 316.7 million USD, while 120 existing projects adjusted their capital by a total of 3.21 billion USD. A significant contribution came from Malaysia’s Gamuda Land Vietnam Co., Ltd., which raised investment in its Yen So Park project by 1.12 billion USD. - Vietnamese athletes won two gold medals in the categories of men’s and women’s singles at the Felet Vietnam International Series 2025 finals in Bac Ninh province on November 2.
Vietnam joined four out of five finals, including the men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and women’s doubles. Read full story
- The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre announced that starting from 10:00 on November 3, all visitor access to the monuments within the Hue Imperial Citadel has been temporarily suspended, as prolonged downpours has caused floodwaters to rise again.
The suspension will last until the ongoing flooding ends, with the centre to provide further updates. Read full story
- Heavy rains and floods had caused 37 deaths, and left five missing and 78 injured across the country as of 8:30 on November 3, according to the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
In addition, floods have submerged and damaged 7,897 hectares of paddy and crops, and 64,356 livestock and poultry have died or been swept away. Across the nation, 103 houses have collapsed or been washed away, 451 others damaged, and 12,676 flooded. Read full story
- Storm Kalmaegi has intensified and is moving towards the central East Sea, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
At 1:00 on November 3, the storm’s centre was located at around 11.2 degrees North latitude and 129.7 degrees East longitude, over the waters east of central Philippines, with maximum sustained winds of Level 11 (103–117 km/h) and gusts up to Level 14.
