Bac Giang leads national campaign to eliminate substandard houses in 2024

The northern province of Bac Giang has emerged as the country's leader in the campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2024, heard a conference to review the local emulation and commendation work on December 31.

Bac Giang (VNA) – The northern province of Bac Giang has emerged as the country's leader in the campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2024, heard a conference to review the local emulation and commendation work on December 31.

The province mobilised more than 86 billion VND (3.37 million USD) for the programme, with major contributors including Fuji Bac Giang Development JSC (3.5 billion VND), Tan Yen district (over 8.1 billion VND), and Hiep Hoa district (nearly 4.9 billion VND).

To date, the province has completed its set target for the year as it has already handed over 1,396 houses to 968 poor and near-poor households, 233 families of people who rendered service to the nation, and 195 ethnic minority ones.

The success of the programme stems from the direction of the local Party Committees and administrations at all levels, and organisations as well as strong community support. Besides, due attention has been paid to promoting the communications work and oversight of the implementation of related policies.

Looking ahead, Bac Giang will continue reviewing process for eligible households and calling for additional resources from organisations, businesses, and citizens to support the programme, striving to complete the elimination of substandard houses by November 2025./.
