The northern province of Bac Giang will channel focus to promote the development of key industries like agro-forestry processing, electronics, garments, fertiliser, chemical and building materials with a view to becoming an industrial province in the future.

Bac Giang (VNA) – The northern province of Bac Giang will channel focusto promote the development of key industries like agro-forestry processing,electronics, garments, fertiliser, chemical and building materials with a viewto becoming an industrial province in the future.

According to Vice Director of the provincial People’s Committee Phan Van Hung,due attention will be paid to high-tech industry and support industry at industrialparks so that local products can join global value chains.

Garment projects in rural areas will be prioritised to create jobs for locallabourers while support industries for the garment sector will be developed toset up a production value chain.

Along with investing in industrial parks and working to attract domestic andforeign investments, the province is diversifying chemical products, developingthe solar energy sector and carrying out the An Khanh thermoelectrically plantas part of efforts to enhance its industrial production value.

Local industrial production has enjoyed robust growth of more than 25 percentin recent years, Hung said, adding that the province has attracted manyprojects like Yoshimura Kogyo spare part plant and Daeyang electronic sparepart plant.

In the first four months of the year, the index of industrial production pickedup 23.3 percent from the same time last year thanks to stable production oflocal firms.

During the period, local production value was estimated at over 42.8 trillionVND (1.88 billion USD), a year-on-year surge of 27.8 percent. More than 33.9trillion VND (1.49 billion USD) of the total amount was contributed by the foreign-investedsector.-VNA
