Some 340 labourers will work under contract in Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Taiwan (China) every year.
According to Truong Linh Phuong, Director of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, under the project, the province will channel focus on training skillful workers so that they can master advanced equipment and technologies.
The project will priotise relatives of people who rendered services to the revolution, ethnic people, impoverished people, and those whose agricultural land is revoked. Also, it will pay due attention to creating jobs for graduates, helping them gain experience and improve profession.
Local labourers will receive a maximum financial support of 13.8 million VND (607.2 USD) each to cover vocational and foreign language training fees and living and travelling costs. Those who go to work in foreign countries will be assisted with visa fees.
The project will be carried out at a total expenditure of 125 billion VND (5.5 million USD), 34 billion VND (1.49 million USD) of which, coming from the national fund, will be used to provide initial support for 260 labourers. Meanwhile, capital from the national target programme on sustainable poverty reduction will give non-refundable support to 40 workers.
The provincial budget will set aside 179.4 million VND (7,890 USD) to aid near poor residents in impoverished and disadvantaged communes.
Than Duc Huong, head of the project’s steering board and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said that the province has more than 708,000 labourers, or 56 percent of the total population. Of the total, workers in rural areas account for 79 percent and unemployment rate is now at 2.38 percent.
Employment support policies are necessary for the local sustainable socio-economic development, he said.-VNA
