Hanoi (VNA) – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has affirmed that the fight against cyber scams is one of the government's key tasks at present.
The PM said maintaining security and social order and combating crime are among the government's prioritised tasks to ensure the peaceful living of citizens.
"And the fight against online scams is a key task at this time in addition to other national prioritised tasks," he said in a message posted on his official social media platforms on January 13.
He said that given the danger to society posed by cybercrime and the complexity of this technology-based crime, which has interconnected networks from one country to another, the government has taken a number of measures against this crime and achieved many positive results.
He noted the strict measures against online scams in the past are a testament to the government's political commitment to combating this transnational crime, which is a common concern for Cambodia, the region, and the world.
Hun Manet called on authorities at all levels and people from all walks of life to join together to eradicate online scams in order to restore Cambodia's image on the global stage./.
