Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung led a delegation of the Foreign Ministry to the Embassy of Cambodia in Hanoi on November 5 to extend congratulations on the country’s 66th Independence Day.

Talking to Cambodian Ambassador Chay Navuth, who has just started his tenure in Vietnam, Deputy FM Dung said Vietnam is rejoiced at the achievements that Cambodia has made over the past 66 years, particularly its impressive economic growth rate in recent years.

He noted that Vietnam-Cambodia ties are making firm progress, with regular exchange of visits and contacts at the high level.

The Deputy FM especially highlighted the official visit by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen to Vietnam in early October, during which the two countries signed two treaties recognizing the completion of 84 percent of the workload in border demarcation and border marker planting along their land border line.

Ambassador Chay Navuth informed his guest that the National Assembly of Cambodia approved the two treaties on November 4.

He pledged to do his best during his tenure to promote the comprehensive and substantial development of bilateral ties.

The Ambassador took the occasion to affirm Cambodia’s support for Vietnam as Chair of the ASEAN in 2020 and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council./.
