Earth Hour 2026 launch event rescheduled

The launch ceremony of a nationwide campaign that calls on all citizens to use energy economically and efficiently in response to Earth Hour 2026 will be held on the morning of Saturday, March 21, instead of March 7 as initially planned.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced an adjustment to the schedule for the launch ceremony of a nationwide campaign that calls on all citizens to use energy economically and efficiently in response to Earth Hour 2026, together with its accompanying run.

The event, originally slated for March 7, will now take place on the morning of Saturday, March 21.

The change comes as March 15 has been designated polling day for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels (2026-2031 term) – a major political event requiring concentrated efforts to ensure security, order and coordination nationwide. In light of this, the ministry has opted to reschedule the launch to ensure the campaign proceeds in a focused and effective manner without affecting broader national responsibilities.

This year’s movement will be rolled out under a message about green innovation and green future, calling on organisations and individuals alike to strengthen energy-saving practices, proactively adopt technological solutions and innovate production and consumption models. The longer-term aim is to foster responsible energy habits and enhance the efficiency of socio-economic development.

Under the revised plan, the launch ceremony and run will be held in person in Hanoi on the morning of March 21, alongside a series of response activities to be implemented nationwide.

An online competition designed to test knowledge of energy efficiency and conservation will run from March 21 to April 11 via the official campaign website at https://tietkiemnangluong.com.vn/.

The run itself will be staged directly in the capital on March 21 and simultaneously held in an online format nationwide until April 11. Organisers hope the initiative will help spread awareness of energy conservation, particularly among pupils, students and young people across the country./.
