Quang Tri (VNA) – The Cam Lo-Dong Ha forest protection unit in the central province of Quang Tri has received a rare stump-tailed macaque, a species listed as endangered, precious and rare in the Vietnam Red Data Book.
The macaque, weighing about 3kg, was discovered after straying into the DK4 reserve warehouse in area KV9, under the management of the agricultural reserve sub-department No. 9. Upon detection, warehouse staff promptly informed local authorities.
According to forest rangers, the animal is scientifically known as Macaca arctoides.
After being handed over, it underwent a health check and is currently being cared for and rehabilitated in accordance with regulations./.

Recent awareness-raising initiatives in Truong Son commune, Quang Tri province have encouraged residents to surrender wild animals, such as hornbills and rhesus macaques, which were subsequently released back into their natural habitats.
