Front leader gives best wishes to Buddhist followers

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Huynh Dam has sent best wishes to Buddhist dignitaries, monks and nuns and followers in and outside the country on the occasion of the Buddha’s 2554th birthday, the 15th of the fourth lunar month.

In his congratulatory message to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS),the VFF Central Committee leader highlighted the VBS’s efforts inbuilding and consolidating the sangha, mobilising its followers toimplement the Party’s policies and the State’s laws and taking part inpatriotic movements, including the “Entire people unite to build acultural life in residential areas” and “Day for the Poor”, launched bythe Committee.

He also commended the VBS for contributing to hunger eradication andpoverty reduction, enhancing the great national unity, implementingsocial economic tasks and ensuring social security and order.

He said he believed that the VBS will make further contributions tobuilding the great national unity and gain greater achievements to markthe sixth World Buddhist Summit in Vietnam, the 1,000thanniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and other big festivals of the countryin 2010./.

Vietnam delivers 3 tonnes of aid supplies to Myanmar earthquake victims

The aid package includes antibiotics, digestive medications, cold and flu remedies, and basic healthcare equipment like blood pressure monitors, blood glucose metres, bandages, and disinfectants. Can Tho plans to eliminate run-down houses before reunification anniversary
