Hanoi capital honoured with four top Tripadvisor awards

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi’s tourism sector has continued to make a strong impression, earning recognition in several major categories of the Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations 2026 Awards recently announced by Tripadvisor.

Specifically, the capital city was honoured in four categories: Top 25 Best Destinations in the World (4th place), Top 25 Best Cultural Destinations in the World (7th place), Top 25 Best Solo Travel Destinations in the World (7th place), and Top 25 Best Food Destinations in the World (11th place).

Being listed simultaneously in multiple categories highlights Hanoi’s comprehensive appeal, not only in terms of landscapes but also cultural depth, vibrant experiences, and its ability to meet global travel trends.

With its ancient charm and graceful beauty, Hanoi has long been a favourite destination for travellers from around the world, especially those keen to explore the history, culture, and people of Vietnam. The city boasts a timeless beauty that blends historical elegance with a modern spirit, preserving its nostalgic past while embracing the dynamic development of a vibrant metropolis.

Through centuries of ups and downs and bearing many different names, the thousand-year-old capital has never forgotten its glorious history, Tripadvisor noted.

Hanoi is home to many iconic landmarks, including the Temple of Literature – Vietnam’s first national university, the Old Quarter, St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Beyond architectural works and historical relics, the capital also features numerous ancient villages, traditional craft villages, museums, and community cultural spaces, where visitors can clearly sense its distinctive identity and rich cultural depth.

Previously, at the Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations 2025 Awards, Tripadvisor honoured Hanoi in three major global categories, ranking it 2nd among the Top 25 Best Cultural Destinations in the World, 7th among the Top 25 Best Destinations in the World, and 14th in the Top 25 All-Time Favourite Destinations category.

Hanoi has also continued to affirm its position on the global tourism map after being named Asia’s Leading City Destination and Asia’s Leading City Break Destination at the World Travel Awards 2025.

Earlier, at the 12th General Assembly of the Tourism Promotion Organisation for Global Cities (TPO) held in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi was honoured in the “Sustainable Tourism” Award at the TPO Best Awards 2025.

The UK-based Time Out magazine listed Hanoi among the top seven most beautiful autumn destinations in Asia, while the Telegraph Travel Awards 2025 named the capital among the world’s greatest cities. Meanwhile, US magazine Travel + Leisure recognised Hanoi as one of 15 dream destinations offering good value for money.

In 2025, Hanoi welcomed more than 33.7 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 20.87%. Of the total, foreign arrivals exceeded 7.82 million, up 22.76%, while domestic visitors reached over 25.88 million, up 20.32%. Total tourism revenue was estimated at over 134.4 trillion VND (1.3 billion USD), up 21.5% from the previous year./.
