Hanoi (VNA) – The Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse 2026 officially opened in Hanoi on February 6, featuring a wide range of cultural and artistic activities to mark the success of the 14th National Party Congress and the 96th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong stressed that the Spring Festival is an annual cultural event deeply imbued with in traditional values. This year, it is held at a special point in time when the Party, the people and the armed forces have successfully organised the 14th National Party Congress, ushering in a new term with long-term strategic orientations and a strong continuation of the cause of Doi moi (renewal) to promote fast and sustainable national development.
The festival helps spread the spirit of the Politburo’s Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW on the development of Vietnamese culture, reaffirming the Party’s consistent view that culture and people are the foundation, an important internal resource, a great impetus, and a pillar for fast and sustainable development, he said.
He revealed that the festival features the participation and support of ASEAN member nations’ embassies and foreign cultural centres in Vietnam, creating a diverse artistic space and affirming Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence and multilateralisation and diversification of external relations.
The festival brings together a wide range of distinctive cultural, artistic and experiential spaces, vividly showcasing Vietnam’s traditional culture in dynamic interaction with contemporary spirit.
A highlight of the event is the thematic exhibition “Spring with the Party,” displaying more than 120 images that retrace the glorious history of the Party since its establishment on February 3, 1930, especially the 14th National Congress. It reaffirms the Party’s leadership role and its long-term vision for national development in the new era.
In addition, a traditional “Vietnamese Tet” zone; light art installations; contemporary creative spaces; displays of ceramics, Vietnamese tea culture and traditional costumes; and a Tay ethnic culture – cuisine area add to the festival's attractiveness.
The Spring Festival also offers hands-on traditional Tet activities such as making traditional cakes and candied fruits, handicraft and folk art workshops, along with art performances and Vietnam – Korea and Vietnam – India cultural exchanges, fostering a lively festive atmosphere and community cohesion.
The festival will last until February 9./.
