Indonesia dismantles international online gambling ring

Jakarta (VNA) – The Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) under the National Police of Indonesia has cracked down on an international-scale online gambling network operating in multiple regions across Indonesia, following several police reports filed between August and December last year.

Brigadier General Wira Satya, Director of General Crime at Bareskrim, was quoted by local media as saying that dozens of suspects were arrested as a result of the operation.

This crime not only violates the law but also has broad social impacts and harms the public, Wira stated in a recent written release.

The arrests were carried out simultaneously in locations including Pamekasan Regency, Tangerang City, West, South, East, and North Jakarta, as well as Cianjur Regency.

The suspects held various roles, including owners and managers of online gambling sites, financial administrators, operational account lessees, payment gateway operators, and those involved in laundering proceeds from the operations.

Preliminary investigations indicate the network generated hundreds of billions of rupiah in profits within a year.

Wira emphasised that police are also tracing the flow of funds and assets obtained through these criminal acts.

The operation uncovered several online gambling platforms managed by the suspects, including T6.com, WE88, PWC (Play With Confidence), and the 1XBET network, which maintains connections across Asia, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

The suspects face multiple charges, carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and fines of up to 10 billion IDR (nearly 600,000 USD)./.

Agricultural envoys ordered to boost Thai crop exports

Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister of Thailand Thammanat Prompao said that the ministry is prioritising a “market-led, innovation-supported, higher income” strategy, built on three key pillars: strengthening confidence in core, established markets to protect Thailand’s market share; targeting high-potential products to open new opportunities, including dried seahorses, dried geckos, live crocodiles for consumption, and breeding crocodile parent stock for farming; and expanding networks by deepening cooperation with key trading partners, including China, and widening sales channels, such as digital platforms, so Thai products can reach consumers more directly.
