Jakarta (VNA) – The Indonesia Economic Summit 2026 (IES) officially opened on February 3, bringing together business leaders and policymakers from across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and international partners to promote economic cooperation and sustainable growth amid ongoing global economic challenges.
Around 100 speakers from Indonesia and other countries are taking part in the event.
Speaking at the summit, Arsjad Rasjid, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Business Council (IBC), said that under the theme “Coming Together to Boost Resilient Growth and Shared Prosperity”, the summit serves as a strategic forum to discuss future directions for the Indonesian economy and the wider ASEAN region.
At the opening ceremony, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto highlighted the broad participation of international partners and investors as an important source of strength, contributing to Indonesia’s competitiveness, expanding investment cooperation, and laying a foundation for sustainable long-term economic growth.
The two-day summit focuses on key issues including inclusive growth, national economic models, trade and industrial investment policies, digital transformation, business competitiveness, ASEAN’s economic position, and strategies to address global risks.
In addition to plenary sessions, the event features a range of thematic round-table discussions and bilateral meetings, providing opportunities to strengthen dialogue between the business community and governments in the policy-making process./.
