President Nguyen Minh Triet has emphasised the need to promote tertiary training in industrial processes and technologies, especially engineering and manufacturing, and considered it as an important direction for the development of industry and the country.

The State President made this statement at his working session with Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, on July 11.

He noted shortcomings, particularly in human resources development, for the education and training sector, including the HCM City University of Industry.

President Triet congratulated the university on its achievements in recent years, praising it as a new training model, that helps students, especially needy students and those in rural areas, to access study and vocational training, describing it as a correct direction for the country’s human resource development.

He asked the university to continue to invest in improving its contingent of lecturers, increase international cooperation, access new technologies and attract intellectuals for its further development.

The University of Industry has six training establishments in Ho Chi Minh City, the northern province of Thai Binh, the central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Quang Ngai, and Bien Hoa city of southern Dong Nai province, said Ta Xuan Te of the University. It will soon open a branch in Nhon Trach in Dong Nai province.

The university has over 100,000 students studying at university, college and vocational training levels./.
