Hanoi (VNA) – Nhan Dan Newspaper, the official organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam, held a ceremony in Hanoi on December 30 to launch the Korean-language version of its online platform at https://kr.nhandan.vn.
Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, said that in recent years, the Vietnam-Republic of Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has continued to deepen. As of the end of August, the RoK was Vietnam’s largest investor, with total registered foreign direct investment exceeding 95 billion USD, and also a key partner in official development assistance (ODA), trade and labour cooperation.
Major Korean conglomerates such as Samsung, Hyundai, LG, Posco and Lotte are operating effectively in Vietnam, with Samsung alone accounting for around 14% of the country’s total export turnover in 2024. These realities underscore the growing demand among Korean-speaking communities for accurate and reliable information about Vietnam, Minh noted.
According to the organiser of the site, with around 300,000 Vietnamese living in the RoK, more than 200,000 Koreans residing in Vietnam, and tens of thousands of multicultural families, the need for an official Korean-language news outlet has become increasingly pressing.
The launch of the Korean-language version of Nhan Dan Online is a concrete step in implementing the Party’s and State’s policy on strengthening external information work, meeting the requirement on building an official information channel in a widely used language. Its target audience includes Korean readers, Korean-speaking communities worldwide, Vietnamese people proficient in the language, and the Vietnamese expatriates in the RoK.
The site will focus on disseminating the Party’s guidelines and policies, and the State’s laws, reflecting the country’s achievements, promoting the image of Vietnam and its people, safeguarding national sovereignty and interests, and strengthening coverage of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The launch is expected to enhance the effectiveness of external communications and expand platforms for promoting Vietnam’s image as a peaceful, stable and developing nation, while further promoting the Vietnam-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and building greater trust and mutual understanding between the two countries' people./.
