Khanh Hoa (VNA) – A live television programme took place on February 11 to convey Lunar New Year wishes to officers, soldiers and civilians living and working in the Truong Sa Special Zone of Khanh Hoa province.

The main broadcast point at the provincial Military Command was linked with three locations in Truong Sa, namely Sinh Ton Island, Da Tay Island and Truong Sa Island. Officers, soldiers and residents on the islands expressed their emotion and pride at the attention and encouragement from provincial leaders and people on the mainland.

Through the connection, island representatives provided an overview of daily life, regular duties and combat-readiness conditions, reaffirming their determination to remain united, uphold a strong sense of responsibility, overcome difficulties and fulfil all assigned tasks.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Vu Duc Quynh, Commander of Truong Sa Island, the Tet atmosphere on the island is already lively. Officers, soldiers and residents have prepared traditional cakes, sweets, and apricot and peach blossoms to celebrate the Lunar New Year. A flag-raising ceremony will be held on the first day of the Lunar New Year. Alongside festive activities, all forces remain on constant alert, ready to carry out their mission to protect the nation’s sacred maritime sovereignty.

From the mainland, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nghiem Xuan Thanh extended his best Tet wishes to officers, armed forces personnel and residents in the Truong Sa Special Zone. He underscored that, together with the whole country, Khanh Hoa consistently pays special attention to Truong Sa, working to develop it into a maritime economic, cultural and social centre, while reinforcing its role as a stronghold safeguarding national sovereignty.

Truong Sa has grown into a more vibrant and established area, acting not only as a strong shield for the nation’s seas and islands but also as an administrative hub progressing in step with the growth of Khanh Hoa province and the country.

Khanh Hoa is actively preparing for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. Votes cast by Truong Sa voters carry particular significance, reflecting the full exercise of civic rights by citizens stationed at the country’s maritime frontiers.

Despite the geographical distance from the mainland, Truong Sa remains close to the hearts of the Party organisation, authorities and people of Khanh Hoa, as well as compatriots nationwide. “The whole country for Truong Sa, Truong Sa for the Fatherland” is not merely a slogan, but a shared sentiment, responsibility and steadfast commitment of millions of Vietnamese people, he said./.

Natural disasters in Vietnam have been increasing in both frequency and intensity. Typhoon No.3 in 2024 (Yagi), along with severe floods, inundation and landslides in 2025, caused significant human and material losses. This underscores the need for targeted and sustainable investments in disaster risk reduction and early warning, particularly for children and vulnerable communities.
