– General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith co-chaired a high-level meeting between the two Parties in Vientiane on December 2.
The meeting is the highest-level cooperation mechanism that holds special significance to guiding and developing the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos in a substantive manner, thereby generating practical benefits for the two peoples and contributing to regional and global peace, security, and prosperity. – General Secretary of the CPV To Lam on December 2 visited former General Secretaries of the LPRP and former Presidents of Laos Choummaly Sayasone and Bounnhang Vorachith as part of his state visit to Laos.
The former Lao leaders expressed their pleasure at meeting General Secretary Lam – a close friend of the Lao people – during his important visit, which coincided with the 50th National Day of Laos and the 105th birth anniversary of President Kaysone Phomvihane. They said the visit reflects the continuation of the long-standing friendship between the two Parties and people, and key leaders of the two countries as well. Read full story
– Vietnam and Laos issued a joint statement following the state visit to Laos by General Secretary of the CPV To Lam on December 1-2, during which he also attended a ceremony to celebrate the 50th National Day of Laos, and co-chaired a high-level meeting between the CPV and the LPRP in Vientiane.
During the trip, the Vietnamese Party chief held talks with General Secretary of the LPRP and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, and met with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and National Assembly Chairman Xaysomphone Phomvihane. He also attended a ceremony to inaugurate the Laos–Vietnam Friendship Park, paid visits to former senior Party and State leaders of Laos, delivered a policy speech at the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, and joined other activities. – Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Van Quang had talks with a delegation from the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan led by Chief Justice and Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council Inam Imdad Karimov in Hanoi on December 2.
Hailing the visit, which followed the establishment of the Vietnam – Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership in May 2025, Quang said the relationship upgrade provides a cornerstone for the two countries to foster bilateral cooperation, and that Karimov’s trip will promote collaboration between the two sides’ court systems. – From December 2, Chinese visitors to Vietnam can use their familiar mobile payment apps to scan VIETQR Global codes and make direct payments at shopping, dining and tourist locations nationwide.
The announcement was made at a ceremony in Hanoi launching bilateral QR-code retail payment connectivity between Vietnam and China. The event was organised by the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), UnionPay International (UPI) of China, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank).
