PV DRILLING III sets new record for longest drilling rig in Malaysia
Hanoi (VNA) – The self-elevating
offshore drilling rig PV DRILLING III, owned by PetroVietnam Drilling and Well
Services Corporation (PV Drilling) has recently set a new record for the
longest one in Malaysia at 6,963m for its customer Hibiscus Oil & Gas
Malaysia Limited (HML).
PV DRILLING III began drilling for HML in the end of 2021 and
will continue until the end of the third quarter this year under the signed
contract. This is one of the PV Drilling's long-term contracts signed amid the
dull drilling market caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier, the self-elevating offshore drilling rigs PV DRILLING I
and PV DRILLING VI also set records for drilling wells with respective depths
of 7,300m and 6,768m for customers Cuu Long JOC and Thang Long JOC in Vietnam.
PV Drilling entered the Malaysian drilling market in 2017 with
two drilling campaigns for customers PETRONAS CARIGALI SDN BHD and IPC Malaysia
B.V (LUNDIN), which were carried out by the PV DRILLING III and PV DRILLING VI
rigs, respectively. In 2018, PV Drilling continued to offer services in
Malaysia by signing a contract to provide PV DRILLING III for customer Repsol
Malaysia.
In the fourth quarter of 2019,
all four of PV Drilling's self-elevating offshore drilling rigs provided services
in Malaysia, contributing to elevating PV Drilling to the second position in
the list of drilling contractors operating in this market.
With the new set records, PV Drilling is seeking
contracts to provide drilling rig services and well drilling technical services
for domestic and foreign customers./.
