Hanoi (VNA) – With creative and responsible approaches, the central city of Da Nang is on track to complete the goal of repairing and building more than 500 houses for local residents affected by flooding under the Quang Trung campaign initiated by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The houses are scheduled to be put into use before the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tet), supporting the restoration of sustainable livelihoods for local people.
During heavy rains, landslides, and flash floods in late 2025, the remote communes of Tra Tan, Tra Linh, Tra Leng, and Hung Son, suffered severe damage to property, infrastructure, and housing. The commune-level authorities have actively implemented the Quang Trung campaign, launched under an official dispatch of the PM to build and repair houses for families affected by the natural disasters.
According to Le Minh Chien, Chairman of the Tra Tan commune People’s Committee, 18 newly built houses in the locality have been relocated to sites far from areas prone to landslides and flash floods.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Hai Dong, Vice Chairman of the Tra Leng commune People’s Committee, stated that in addition to funding from the State and local organisations, the commune has mobilised maximum manpower, equipment, and materials, to construct and repair 12 houses of this kind.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Binh, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Region 5 Command in Dien Ban, Da Nang, said that once the construction site was handed over, officers and soldiers engaged in the work, adding to save time, the unit was divided into two teams stationed near the sites.
The police of Quang Ngai province handed over the first house under the Quang Trung campaign to a landslide-hit family in Son Tay commune, on January 6.
This is one of 32 houses registered by the provincial police, which are scheduled to be completed before January 10, 2026.
The two-story house, built at a total cost of 110 million VND (nearly 4,200 USD), was funded by the Ministry of Public Security, the provincial People’s Committee, and contributions from relevant agencies, organisations, and local authorities./.
