RoK wants India to join RCEP

Partnership (RCEP).
He said Seoul will continue with specific moves to deliver on its commitments to RCEP negotiations.
Last week, Director General for Trade Policy Yeo Han-koo of the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy met ASEAN Secretary General Lim Jock Hoi and head of Indonesia’s RCEP negotiation delegation Iman Pambagyo to discuss steps to achieve the deal’s goals this year.
According to the Korean side, the RCEP is significant to export-oriented economies.
Korean news agency Yonhap reported that the RoK’s exports reached 542.4 billion USD last year, down 10.3 percent from the previous year. Southeast Asian countries accounted for over 20 percent of the RoK’s exports, up 19.1 percent year-on-year.
RCEP groups 10 ASEAN member states and six partner countries, including Japan, the RoK, China, India, Australia and New Zealand.
However at the East Asia Summit in Bangkok, Thailand in November 2019, only 15 countries agreed to sign the deal, except India./.
